攻讀生物醫學學位同時自學金融—心得分享
作為帝國理工學院的一名本科生，主修生物醫學科學，我的學術旅程可謂非比尋常。在大一的下半學期，我做出了一個關鍵的決定：探索金融行業的職業道路。這個選擇乍看之下似乎與我所學的領域毫無關聯，但卻為我打開了多元的視角，豐富了我的整體學習經驗。
As an undergraduate student at Imperial College pursuing a degree in Biomedical Sciences, my academic journey has been anything but conventional. In the second half of my first year, I made a pivotal decision to explore a career in finance. This choice, while seemingly disconnected from my primary field of study, has opened up a multifaceted perspective on both disciplines and enriched my overall educational experience.
從生物醫學科學到金融
我對金融的興趣並非一時衝動，而是源自對這個產業以及其對各個領域（包括醫療）影響的日益好奇。我意識到，了解金融可以大大提升我將來在生物醫學領域的貢獻，特別是在醫療管理與生技投資方面。這個體悟促使我積極申請多個與金融相關的實習職位，這個過程需要大量的準備與承諾。
The decision to delve into finance was not spontaneous; it emerged from a growing curiosity about the industry and its impact on various sectors, including healthcare. I realized that understanding finance could significantly enhance my future contributions to biomedical science, especially in areas like healthcare management and biotech investments. This realization motivated me to apply for multiple finance-related internships, a process that required extensive preparation and commitment.
學業與實習之間的平衡

This process often consumed my evenings and weekends, encroaching on the time I needed to dedicate to my biomedical sciences coursework. Balancing these responsibilities was challenging, but it taught me invaluable time management skills. I learned to prioritise tasks effectively, ensuring that my academic performance did not suffer while I pursued opportunities in finance. This balancing act also forced me to become more organized, as I had to allocate specific times for studying, internship applications, and staying updated on industry trends.

In addition to applying for internships, I devoted significant time to learning about the finance industry. I immersed myself in current events, market trends, and key financial concepts through online courses, podcasts, and financial news articles. This self-directed learning was crucial in building a foundational understanding of finance, allowing me to engage meaningfully during interviews and networking events. I discovered that finance is a dynamic field, constantly evolving with technological advancements and shifting market conditions. Staying informed about these changes not only prepared me for potential roles but also enhanced my analytical skills, which are essential in both finance and biomedical sciences.

People are often intrigued by my journey, as the connection between biomedical sciences and finance may not be immediately apparent. However, my experience has taught me that the skills and knowledge acquired in any field are universally applicable. Critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and effective communication are just a few examples of transferable skills that I have honed through my studies and extracurricular activities. Moreover, my interdisciplinary approach has enabled me to appreciate the complexities of both industries.
